To make this Literature fest a success, a series of activities had been planned for our students. It included: Bed-time stories, fables, lullaby, object talk, twist in the tale, poetry, enactment of speeches given by famous personalities, book reviews, author talk, group discussions, travelogues and bloggers.
The purpose of this literature fest is to enhance the literary outlook of our students, to encourage our students to develop interest and understanding of literature, to improve their speaking skills, help them to inculcate the habit of reading and have a good flair for writing.
Keeping these objectives in mind, we had earlier mentioned the activities for various grades. Writing stories or fables will give the students a vent to express their ideas or thoughts. In the process, our students will realize that diligence, patience and dedication go into the making of the writer.
Object talk will enhance the power of imagination, oratory skills and the memory of the students.
Twist in the tale will empower children to add a personal twist or give a new look to the classical or contemporary tales thus making the stories more interesting and thrilling. It also reflects children's interests and imagination of how they want to see the story end.
Another innovative technique of developing love for literature is to have group discussions. It enables the students to express their opinion in front of a group or audience which definitely boosts their confidence and improves their public speaking skills. Also enhances team coordination and a healthy discussion.
By writing Book Reviews, students can critically analyse a piece of literature by a famous writer.
Activities like Author Talk and Bloggers will motivate students to evolve as budding 21st Century writers.
This literature fest will certainly be a good experience for the students. It has witnessed enthusiastic participation of students from various grades and enlightened them with the magic of language and literature." While thought exists, words are live and literature becomes an escape, not from, but into living."
Heartfelt gratitude to our English faculty for taking the efforts in guiding the students, editing their literary works, the I.T Department for wonderfully designing the web page and none other than our honourable Principal madam of Lakshdham High School, Ms Meeta Bhat for conceptualizing such a creative literary event and also for her support, encouragement and guidance to make this event a grand success.
